Memory for overclocking

Would using 2 x 1 gb crucial pc4000 ballistix be a lot better for overclocking with a 4400+ X2
than 2 x 1 gb performance ocz OCZ4002048PFDC-K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820146970

or crucial regular 2 x 1 gb?

I don't want to do harcore clocking. No water or phase change just good air. I want to overclock it to like 2.7 or 2.8 ghz. Does crucial regular memory overclock well or is it like kingston basic memory and is going with high end memory over name brand regular memory that much better? I want strong performance, but I am not sure I want to stomach $380 (Which I think is cheap for high end memory) for 2 gb of ballistix instead of just $210 for 2 gb of ocz or crucial.

Any other suggestions for memory would be helpful also.

Does DDR2 at 553 mhz or 667 have the same bandwith and performance as a DDR at 533 mhz or 667 mhz setting aside the differences in brands? Or is DDR 667 way better than any DDR overclocked? The highest I have seen is DDR600 so I would think 667 would be much better. In general is memory at the same speed and size have the same bandwidth and speed? Like DDR pc3200 overclocked to 600 and DDR600? Are we just paying for the guarantee that pc3200 works at 400 mhz and if you can get it to run as fast as higher memory it works just the same, besides the possible instability?

How do you tell if the voltage on your memory or cpu is too high and will damge them? Are all the settings in the bios safe so that they will not burn up? Is there a rule of thumb off the regular voltage setting? Finally does the system shut down if the temp on the memory gets too hot like with cpu?

Anyone know what the max memory voltage you can get out of the Asus A8N SLI deluxe is? I don't see it on their site.

Should be 2.85v

from my experience, the 1gb crucial value ram doesn't respond to voltage at all, so you should just.. not use more than you need.

for the cpu, try to keep temps under 50c, and don't go more than ..15-.2v over stock for 24/7 use.

also, read this:

Eclipse you said only use as much as you need but how do you tell if it is enough??
Just bump it up .05 volts and see if it stabilizes? What if it needs .15 volts more and you think it isn't helping at .05 more so you stop then?

i run memtest. if there are errors, something is wrong and needs to be tweaked, sometimes voltage is one of the "tweaked" settings. basically i just lower the voltage as much as i can so that it's one notch above creating errors in memtest.

If I wanted to get 3.1 volts for memory off the motherboard do I need that v mod? even though crucial doesn't seem to react that much to more voltage I think I would want to put it at 3.1 volts as an extra 6 mhz is better than nothing and pretty much free. Unless the temps shoot up really high, but I thought i read that memory doesn't heat up much even overclocked.

the crucial 1gb stick i have gets hella hot without a fan on it at 251mhz and 2.8v.. 3.1v is just crazy, esp for a wimpy 6mhz increase.

also, whether or not you need to do a vmod depends on what board you have :p

Someone want to explain this to me? http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1700&page=6
I was looking around on the internet for ballistix pc4000 reviews and it keeps saying it only overclocks to 507 mhz about. In this review it says that this is overclocked a lot yet the standard speed at pc4000 is supposed to be 500 mhz right?? If this is true why get the pc3200 or the pc4000 ballistix and just get the crucial value ram that does the same thing. Unless it has to do with their test config, but it is using a amd 64 3200+ .
