I'm hoping to make my Dell last one more year (it's a 4-5 year old Dimension 8250). If I had some more memory, I think I'll be able to make it! I went to the Dell kiosk at the mall the other day, and was talking to the guy working there. He said that I need to get it from Dell. If I get a bad memory stick, it could fry my pc. Is there any truth to this at all???? I'm always leary of what the makers recommedations are! If I can get it from "anywhere", how do I know what type I need? I do know that I need Rimm...and on the Dell site, it had two different choices for the 8250....400 front side bus and 533 front side bus. How do I know which of these I need? One more thing, on the dell site, it says rambus...is rimm and rambus the same thing??

Thank you VERY much!!!

i had the dimension 8300 and it used DDR ram but check the Dell site and see what type ram that your system takes and buy it somewhere else

Every upgrade at Dell is expensive and that's a lie anyway

I went to the Crucial website. There are two Dimension 8250's listed. One is for 400 MHz, the other is for 500 MHz. Can you tell me how I can find out which speed is on my pc?
Thanks!
