memory errors on memtest 86

ok, i have 2 sticks 512mb pc3200 ddr400 ram,

i was checking out a thread on overclocking and how to check the memory for errors,

well while running the scan on option 5 it shows like 150,000 errors,

WTF? ive never overclocked the memory, or anything, but i bought the newer 512 ram on e-bay maybee thats it?

is there any program that fixes errors in the ram?
 
Had the same problem after running Memtest86 on a pair of 512 sticks. After doing the usual removing of sticks and reseating to see if that would cure the problem (which it didnt) i tried each stick and one kept returning errors. As they were still in warranty i sent the pair back, they were tested and the stick i singled out as being the rogue was found to be faulty and a new pair was despatched to me. I think a faults appears in one or more of the chips on a module, so i dont think any software will be able to accomplish a repair.
 
so i should take one of the sticks out and test 1 at a time your saying?

the computer runs great, just knowing there are errors makes me weary though.
 
When you've got RAM that's faulty, you'll get random reboots as you start to fill up your memory. It's a real pain too, trying to troubleshoot an error that seems to be non-existent. Do yourself a favor and get RAM that's working properly. You'll save headaches down the road.
 
Z28SHAKER, yes try them one stick at a time, you will soon find the faulty one. Maybe just reseating them in there slots may cure the problem. But dont hold your breath. If they are not a matched pair you will be able to just replace the faulty stick.

What sniperchicken says is correct. My system just got worse and worse over a period of time. The BSOD,s got more frequent, programs would close themselves. Then i would get the send error box followed by doctor watson wanting to create an error report, on occasions doctor watson would close saying there was a problem and it needed to close.

Although now with the new ram installed the BSOD,s, and random prog closes have stopped, i still believe i live with the aftermath of the faulty memory. These are just my thoughts, but i think progs and the O/S itself have become corrupt due to the fault. I still get niggling little errors, of course i could just reinstall the progs (pain that it would be) but i think im looking at a format and reinstall of windows. So if your RAM,s faulty change it now.
 
ok, just pulled out the new ram i just bought on e-bay, it runs with no error's on my 512 stick that i origionally had, so the new one is bad.

they stated in the auction that they had tested the ram and it worked great, ( and the only way to test ram is with memtest)

hopefully i can get a refund, or a new stick without errors.
