I don't think I can wait any longer for the S939 to be released. I might bite the dust and just purchase a A64 S754 system. I mean, its fast enough to play the latest games right? And I know I will see a big increase of perfomance from my current setup which is an AMD Thunderbird 1.4 system.

Now to my question. I want to run my setup on 1gb of memory. Since the S754 won't run in dual channel with two memory sticks. Would it be better/faster if I just get one stick of 1gb memory. Would this effect my ability to overclock?

What would be the best brand to run with s754? Mushkin or Corsair?
 
get a top quality brand stick with good timings (corsair 2-3-3-6 cas2 sticks are what i use)

i believe good stability is important and worth the extra money

So it doesn't matter if its one stick 1gb or two sticks (2x512) 1gb memory?

Does the timing effect the memory if its bigger?
 
Buy Mushkin PC3200 lvl 1. It will run 2-3-2-5 no problems and will overclock higher then the Corsair usually. Mushkin makes the best PCB's in the biz.

The larger the numbers the greater the latency. Greater latency = slower computer, especially for gaming.
 
Check to make sure your board will support 1gb dimms. Most do, but there can be problems.

Plus, its usually cheaper to get 2x512 then 1x1gb.

I went from a t-bird 1.2@1.4 with a geforce3 to my current sig and it was like a whole new world when i play games. =P

I have this brand of mushkin memory, I think. I know its 3200 Black. Except it runs @ 2.5-3-3-6. When I try to change anything, my computer fails to boot and I have to take my motherboard battery out. I have an Albatron K8X800 Pro II board.
 
Wouldn't it be better to wait until they release those nforce 3 250 boards with the agp/pci lock or something? Sorry I'm not aware of the exact name.

What makes those boards better than the current one's out now?

Well plain and simple it really wouldn't take much to be better then the current A64 boards out now lol. Most of them have nothing but issues and memory incompatibility with half the RAM on the market. I would wait for the new Nforce 3 250 if your going to get an A64 board. I wouldn't want a board that didn't have a pci/agp lock for sure.
