Well I'm going to try to get Mushkin 3500 Lvl 2 in three weeks. If I am unsuccessful in being able to purchase it due to demand and short supply, I was going to go with OCZ PC 4000 Gold or Corsair XMS 4000 Pro. This will be my first experience at overclocking so as a newbie I will need all the wisdom to get a successful overclock. I have an asus p4c800 e deluxe with a 2.8c processor. I read numerous websites and discovered that this processor usually tops out in the 240-245 mhz. I contacted OCZ tech support and they recommeded the PC4000 Gold. They also recommended the OCZ PC3700 Gold Rev 2. I have equipped a thermalright sp-94 with a tornado 92mm fan. I have equipped a Swiftech MCX159-P Chip Cooler for my North Bridge. I am not really concerned with price, just overall performance. If I am limited by fsb then I am starting to think the OCZ PC3700 Rev 2 Gold is the way to go. What do you recommend and why? Thanks for all your help.

i would recommend Corsair over OCZ any day :D
overclocking with XMS 4000 Pro should be a painless process too

OCZ is a name that many here detest. They have a bad past reputation, so I wouldn't try them myself. Anyone with personal experience to share with the young Jedi?

Young Young Jedi,
You want to learn about a real life urban myth that turned out to be true. It's a tale of beasts and witches it is.

Everything from poor rma/customer service to mislabeled hardware to just plain old bad quality, their bullying of hardware review sites, using cronies to bully forum posters (happened a lot). Young Jedi would have been disappointed as yoda yours truly he would.

Anybody here remember when OCZ lied about the size of their operation? Some enterprising soul (a Webmaster they attempted to bribe and bully) tracked down their real adress/base of operations, took a crapload of pics, then posted them everywhere for us to see. It turned out to be some crummy old stucco building that looked like it used to be a Deli. A crummy seedy little deli at that....from what i remember.

To placate any residual ocz zombies who may still be spying, i'll give you the usual "but ocz has gotten better"(!) line :p

Is it true ozc rumors of poor rma/customer service to mislabeled hardware to just plain old bad quality, their bullying of hardware review sites, and using cronies to bully forum posters? Cause if thats the case, I dont want to be mislead by anandtech's reviews that rated ocz memory high. If that's the case, I might just go with corsair xms pro 4000 pro and avoid any aggervation or misleading products.

From what I understand, some OCZ products are very good, but the company as a whole is pretty slimy about stuff sometimes. People have had a lot of trouble with their customer service and some stuff that certainly seems like false advertising.

I would certainly go with Corsair for the peace of mind that it brings with its excellent performance.

will my asus p4c800 e deluxe and 2.8c do alright with corsair xms pro 4000 1g if i get 240-245fsb? ill be putting a swifttech MCX159-P Chip Cooler on my nb.
