Had to send some Corsair pc4000pt 2x512 memory on RMA. Had errors when running memtest and failing blend in prime95. My overclocks were not stable at all. So question is what kind of memory do i get instead. I am running winchester 3200, Gigabyte K8NS Ultra 939 and using a geforce gt6600 agp PNY card. I want the best performance i can get with what ive got. Thing is the store I got the memory from ONLY deal with Corsair, or Kingston so was wondering what to get from either these 2 manufacturers. :D

the gigabyte is probably the reason for your ram problems, but i prefer kingston over corsair

Truth. But if you already own the Corsair I wouldn't go buying a replacement. If anything if you're going to be spending $100+ on replacing something, get a better mobo...still, there's a decent chance it can be made to work regardless, you probably just won't get the best OC out of it. When are you expecting to have all of the system's parts in one place again?

I've been looking around about Corsair...I see alot of problems with errors, and the solution is always raise the latency or something. Imo stay away from corsair now, they just sell there name. Kingston is good, but expensive. I've never been to the kingston forums, but look at corsairs, nothing but problems.

You're right about Corsair being dodgy (this round at least, and more the ValueRAM than the rest) but your justification lacks merit. It's a support forum, many of the people posting there are doing so because they need support, thus a large portion of posts will involve problems. Same for any support forum.

What kind of performance increase willI get if any from buying new memory. I have Twinmos 1024MB Dual Channel PC3200 kit at the moment. If there is no performance increase then i might spend my money on something else.

next to none.

well can you get new sticks of corsair to replace the ones that don't seem to be working on the gigabyte for free?

Yes they are being RMA'd and the store tells me when they test them if found faulty which they are then I can have a refund or get some other product. So i dont really want to spedn cash if its not needed I could get something else (since it took me so long to get cash from the wife in first place :D )

gotcha, i think i'd personally go for the refund and stick with the twinmosSP then :D

RMA the wife and keep the Ram
I just had some Corsair mem go south after almost 3 years
E'd the Corsair Ram guy and explained what was happening.
He suggested some stuff and ultimately suggested that I rma the twin sticks.
Got brand new sticls in 8 days.
Now all is as it should be.
I'll stay with the big C
FWIW

just because i've never tried, where would one RMA a wife to? :D

hehe, all joking aside, wife > computer imo.
she loves you back, a computer is void of emotion ;)

My computer knows my name..It acts up when I'm mad, It runs smooth when its shut off..It even tells me when it has a headache! Gosh what a pain in the neck.

I always thought a wife usually was self-RMAing...run it too far out of spec and it returns to its manufacturer on its own.
