ok after searching through some of the other posts it seems as though this bios setting is the divider. one post i saw showed these numbers
200mhz = 1:1
166mhz = 5:6
133mhz = 2:3
100mhz = 1:2

however when i look at that setting in bios it has values that go well above 200mhz dont remember how high they go but its over 500mhz. so how do i know what the ratios end up being for these settings?

this is my first serious attempt at overclocking i got a opty 165 and a8n-premium and 2gb ocz pc3200 platnium rev2

also i was messing around with the memory timings and i set them to 2-2-3-5 1T and it locked up and wouldnt reboot and i had to screw with the jumpers to get it to reboot. is that normal while attempting to overclock? to have that kind of failure?

Just stick with the 200:-(1:1) and up your FSB/HTT. OCing you ram and CPU and the same time

Messing with the jumpers is called resetting the CMOS, good term to learn when ocing
;) . OCing is all about trial and error, so yes it is normal for you system to lock up, if u just mess with settings.

well i have had it set to 400mhz what exactly does setting it to this mean. it seemed to work.

400mhz = 400/2 = 200mhz = 1:1 fsb/mem ratio. So your Memory will oc along with your fsb as you raise it, i.e. if your FSB is 250 and you have 200mhz divider, your ram will also be 250.
