So, I've known for a month now that my rear exhaust fan was going bad in my case. Every now and then it would start to hum, I'd slow it down with my finger, release it, and it would spin back up in balance and be fine for a couple days.

Well, last night, I'm playing some L4D2 and my comp shuts down and won't power on. I started unplugging all my hardware in an attempt to find out WHAT exactly cooked.... until I touched my exhaust fan. After 15 -20 min of being shut down, the damn thing was hotter than all hell.

Turns out, the bearing finally locked up, the fan WOULD NOT TURN. Evidently caused it to get very hot to the point where it shorted out, and wouldn't let my PC boot. Weird shit.

So, I ordered up 3 of these:

Decided to stop being cheap, and get away from my stock HSF. ;)

Oh man I hope you didn't pay that much for that HSF. I'm sure there are a lot better HSFs out there around that price :X

Yeah, the 9900 isn't a great cooler anymore, not with today's tower coolers. :/

You should have even been able to find a Hyper 212+ for around $35-40, which are a ton better than the Zalman one.

Bah, I can't use any of those. The Zalman is my best choice and I'm not even sure IT will work.

I've got the Antec Solo case, and based on my measurements, the top of the Zalman will only clear the side of my case by 1/2cm. So.... sadly I can't use any of the latest and greatest coolers.
