Ok, I have a vexing issue that is really starting to annoy me. For some reason, Windows XP will blue sceen on me on startup, because it can't find the disk it booted from. I have a LSI MegaRaid 320-2 controller, with one logical disk. XP is on the second partition. The thing that percipitated the problem was that I finally installed the driver for the on board SATA chipset. After that, the system never gets beyond the point of the XP logo, before blue-screening and restarting. I had the same thing happen when I had an Adaptec 29160 controller in the system with no disks attached. Rather than going down to the RAID controller, XP thought there were no disks attached to the system. The error never stays on the screen long enough to capture, unfortunately.

Hardware:
Tyan Thunder K8W with dual Opteron 244's (CG stepping)
2 GB Corsair TwinX 1024RE-3200LL memory
Onboard USB
Onboard SIL SATA chipset (no disks)
Onboard Broadcom GigE
Onboard FireWire

Gainward GeForce3 card (to be replaced with Geforce 6800 Ultra when it shows up)
OPEN SLOT
LSI Megaraid 320-2 with 4 Seagate 10K RPM 36.4 disks
Creative Audigy2 (whatever the top end is)
OPEN SLOT (Emulex LightPulse 8000 Fibre Channel to be added)
Belkin 5 port USB 2.0 card(32 bit PCI slot)

All PCI slots are PCI-X except for the last one.

Software:
Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 RC2
Gentoo Linux 64 bit (Working completely, no problems)
