Got a Mega 865 things been acting screwy has software called MSI Update 3 or something like that used it to find me a new bios that I could easily flash user-friendly through Windows. Okay tried that then it says error and keeps repeating itself it tries gets to 99% and then error: repeat. So I say oh well I'll leave what I've got. The thing continues to work fine. Next time I have shut it down and re-booted it doesnt work. Bios wiped out and I need a new bios on floppy, anyone experienced anything like this and could you give me some pointers to getting it back up. I know I need to create a bootable .bat file with the bios, the old one, on it (I think) and a MS-DOS boot disc...? Not sure there and will it accept an external USB Floppy drive or will that not work because it requires USB drivers. All help appreciated!

If the BIOS got rocked that hard I'd borrow a floppy drive from someone and do it old school. Hook it up to the internal header. USB + BIOS flash scare me to be honest. Floppies are 5-12.00 I still keep one around for emergencies just like yours, or loading SATA/RAID drivers on newer PC's without floppy drives.

If your using msi update then in all probability you have an msi or msi based board. On the msi site are instructions for recovering from a bad flash. They list both AMI and Award bios recovery systems.

The other good news is, MSI is really fast on mobo repair, and very easy to deal with. I admit, I too pooched a flash once, turn around was under a week. All thier RMA info is done from thier site.
