I'm looking to build a new gaming pc here in the next month or so.

1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Gaming will be the biggest burden on the system, but I also do software development.

2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping included?
absolute maximum is $2000 (tax and shipping included)

3) Where do you live?
Iowa

4) What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, case, etc. "Everything" is not a valid answer. Please list out all the parts you'll need.
I will need:
-CPU
-GPU
-RAM (6gb triple channel would be nice)
-Possibly a 1-2 tb hard drive if the budget allows
-Possibly a PSU (see below)
-Motherboard
-20" monitor, possibly with display port (see below)
-A case
-A cheapish racing wheel with force feedback (sub $100 preferable)

5) If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Please be especially specific about the power supply. List make and model.
-2 20" monitors
-I have a 650W PSU, but that may not be enough
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817163108
-Logitech g15 keyboard
-Logitech mouse (can't remember the model number)
-My crap-tastic sound system from Wal-mart
-DVD burner
-3 Hard drives: 200gb, 250gb, and 1tb.

6) Will you be overclocking?
no

7) What size monitor do you have and/or plan to have?
I currently have 2 20" monitors (both Acer) and would like another. My goal is to have a 3 monitor gaming setup (not 3D though, too high budget for me).

8) When do you plan on building/buying the PC?
Towards the end of July

9) What features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? etc.
No raid support, but Crossfire/SLI support is definitely needed (even if I go with a single card multi monitor solution, it leaves the option to add another card in the future).

10) Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? If yes, what OS? 32bit or 64bit?
I have Windows 7 64-bit.

Pretty much what I'm looking at here is that I want to build a new gaming rig in the next month. I already have 2 monitors because it makes coding so much easier, so I'd like to add a third monitor and use them for gaming. I read the [H]ardOCP review of NV Surround and it seems like there's no real difference between Eyefinity and NV Surround (normalizing for GPU horsepower). I'd like to go duel GTX 480's, but the cost there is really high and won't leave much wiggle room on the other components. I need this computer to last me 4 years with only minor upgrades, so its also important that hard to upgrade parts like the CPU and motherboard are able to last.

I purchased the Codemaster's racing pack when it was on sale on Steam, but unfortunately my old school Logitech Wingman racing wheel doesn't work on 64-bit operating systems, so I'd like to find a good value racing wheel that won't take up a ton of my budget but isn't a cheap piece of crap either. Also, my current hard drives are getting full and I'd like to leave one of them in my current computer to use for a server, so it'd be nice if I could pick up a 1-2 tb hard drive as well.

Any suggestions for parts would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a Nvidia surround setup:
$485 - Intel Core i7-930 CPU + Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R X58 ATX Motherboard Combo
$150 - G.Skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM
$660 - eVGA 012-P3-1470-AR GTX 470 1280MB PCI-E Video Card
$80 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$150 - Corsair 950TX 950W PSU
$90 - Cooler Master HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP ATX Case
$130 - Acer X203Hbd 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor

Total: $1745 plus tax and shipping.

For GT 4xx series SLI, your current PSU will not be enough.

Here's a ATI Eyefinity setup:
$485 - Intel Core i7-930 CPU + Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R X58 ATX Motherboard Combo
$150 - G.Skill F3-12800CL9T-6GBNQ 3 x 2GB DDR3 1600 RAM
$410 - XFX HD-587X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5870 1GB PCI-E Video Card
$80 - Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$150 - Corsair 950TX 950W PSU
$90 - Cooler Master HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP ATX Case
$210 - Dell P2010H 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor (has display port)
----
Total: $1575 plus tax and shipping.

Gotta double check whether or not Crossfire now works with Eyefinity well.

single 5870/50 would be good enough for 3 20" config but the question is which 20" displays do you have? 1680x1050 or 1600x900.

I would go with a single 5870 then, you can always add another if you feel that the horsepower you want isn't there.

yeah i would go with what danny said except cheaper vid card and invest the rest in SSD

I forgot to mention, both my displays are 1680x1050.

Shit totally missed that. At least on newegg, there are no more 20" LCD monitors with 1680x1050 res. The cheapest one I could find was a 22":

As for the displayport monitor, I haven't been able to find a display port equipped monitor with 1680 x 1050 yet.

multi-monitor gaming, last time i checked, 5850 handles most of it beautifully and can be overclocked pretty decently

I found this. It's refurbished so I'm not sure about quality, but I bought this same monitor brand new from Newegg a while back and its worked great, so I think I might go with this.

As for displayport, thanks for looking but I think I'm gonna go with dual 470's as they seem like the best bang for the buck setup (at least from the surround reviews that I've read).
