medieval:total war crashing

For some odd reason, medieval total war continuosly crashes during the battles, it has no consistency to it, just that my computer freezes. I've tried some video things.. but is this a known issue?

I have a 9800 pro running the newest Omega drivers... but it did the same thing with the Cat 4.4's

PLEASE HELP!!!
 
Reinstall the game? Is this the only game that crashes? Have you tested your RAM with memtest or MS' tester? Have you tried reinstalling DX 9.0B? Have you tried messing with the in game settings? Have you messed with your sound acceleration in dxdiag?
 
well, i Havent messed with the sound acceleration or tested my ram. But all other games and applications function perfectly, so I know the ram is cool, describe this sound configuration setting you suggest might help.. :)
 
Click Start then Run... and type dxdiag. Go to the Sound tab and try turning the Sound Acceleration tab to the left.
 
changing that didn't help... the demo for the juice game also locks up my computer just like the medieval game.. is there something they share in common perhaps?? I can play Raven Shield, Farcry, and Warcraft all day long and there aren't any problems...

P.S. It just locked up on the desktop a few mins ago, which it has never done before. I upped my CPU voltage to 1.7 and made sure the ram voltage was set to 2.85 reference, and I set the Turbo mode to "auto" for the ram in the BIOS, lets see if that helps...
 
well I don't wanna speak to soon, but I set my overclocker to standard (non-OC'd) and it hasn't crashed.. so I guess it was a ram or CPU (probably RAM) problem... I'll have to figure out what's goin on because I know the cooling is fine... very odd.. but it's good to have it fixed at least, thanks for the help guys.. :)
