Media Icons all screwed up

My icons for any and all media files have reverted to the generic icon. Its the one that xp uses when a file has no specified association and its very annoying. Anyone know a simple fix for this? Ive tried repairing the cache with tweakui but to no avail. Ive reset the associations umpteenth times with the same result. I'm running XP-64 and this is a brand new install only about a week old.
