I'm installing media center edition XP with SP2. I have noticed that it cannot start the windows firewall service because it is not present or marked for deletion. My concern is that it being missing is a sign of a corrupt installation. Maybe they don't include it by default because no one uses it anyway?

I'm also haveing troubles with Nvidia chipset drivers and a few of the Nvidia apps not working nicely with media center. The Nvidia media shield seems to install with the drivers but it wont work, I get an error and it closes. I have tried a few different versions of the drivers. I'm also iffy on these Nvidia sata raid drivers. They won't let me turn off disk write caching and I'm getting disk wrirte errors occasionally.

Abit NI8-SLI-GR
Nforce4 chipet drivers
Dual WD 250 GB on a raid0 stripe
Nvidia SATA raid drivers
dual geforce7800
Latest forceware drivers

The vid drivers seem to be working fine.

have you tried going to the services and seeing if the service was enabled?

go to START/RUN type services.msc hit enter and check the windows firewall

inded, the firewall/ics service is "unable to start because it is not present or marked for deletion."
