Measuring Tempature

This is definitely a very nooB question. At the risk of embarassing myself, I am going to ask anyway.

What is the best way to measure the various tempatures in your case. Is there a program that is able to read the tempatures that your BIOS is reporting from within Windows? Is the solution to get one of those temp units that fit into your 5.25 in bay with digital read outs? Please explain what my options are and recommend some equipment or software.

Also, could someone please paste a link to Prime95?

1) go to www.google.com

2) Type your search (in your case "Prime95")

3) Click on links to download.

As far as temperature monitering, I would recommend Motherboard Monitor 5 (google search "MBM5")

Use google. Google = Friend:D

SiSandra will also monitor your temperatures (system/CPU). I see Motherboard Monitor (MBM) was recommended. I use this as well, but it takes some configuring to set it up the way you want :).

I'm assuming you know how to get into your BIOS? I was just wondering whether you know your BIOS will tell you your system/CPU temperatures as well.

Hope this helps :D.

How do the software programs read the temps? Do they simply pull it from the BIOS? What about ambient temperature? Are HW solutions better for monitoring temp? What are some of the better HW solutions?

Yeah, I know how to get into my BIOS.
