can anyone tell me how to measure my bandwidth on my network. i need to mesaure it on a daily basis so i can get an average of what i use in a month.

specifically what are you trying to measure though? your bandwidth is more or less a constant. your throughput is the actual rate at which data is moving through your network. furthermore, are you trying to measure your network performance, or your broadband performance?

Are you simply trying to see what your internet connection is actually doing?

i want to know how much bandwidth im consuming from the internet on a daily basis. i wanna know how much traffic is going to the internet and coming back in from the internet. i wanna know how much bandwidth i'm using per day.

i already know what my internet connection speed is thats not what im talking about. i want to know how much bandwidth im consuming.
 
An answer may depend on what hardware you are running your network on..such as..what router do you have?
 
If you have, or are willing to setup, a linux based firewall I strongly recommend vnstat.

And because it's console only I suggest you add on this:

I was very happy with this setup.
 
If your router/firewall supports SNMP then you could setup MRTG on a spare box to query it for bandwidth usage. You can even get yourself some fancy graphs showing daily, weekly, monthly averages! It can run on linux or windows boxes, I've only ever set that up on a linux box though.
