Ok, i got an ME system here that i cant format due to some tricky registering issues with a software company. I just had to install a new mobo becuz the old one crapped out. Now everythings working great, except windows wont detect a cd rom drive. So therefore i cant load mobo drivers and get ethernet working. Leaving me screwed. ANyone have any ideas, software or hardware wise. It does have a floppy drive :-/. if theres a program that would fix this. Thanks much

ME Not Detecting CD ROM Drives

Get rid of ME. It's crap. As far as Windows goes, it's one of the worst. Kevin Rose (The Screensavers), while sitting in a dunk tank, was pointing at a co-worker, saying, "Hey, this guy uses Windows M.E.!"

Call the company and have them walk you through backing the software up. That's what buying high dollar software is for, their support is their crutch.

You don't need the OS on a hard drive to run to access the HDD's files. My only advice is to get rid of M.E., 'cause it's fatally flawed. I don't know anyone with M.E. that has never had any problems with it.

There has to be a way to back up essential files and then install it on windows 2000 pro (best OS out IMO, business wise, stability wise as well but xp pro is almost as good) and then put in the essential files.. call the company, I repeat.
