I do believe this is the right place. Well my name's Westy543. Typically I lurk [H] and I've done some F@H stuff in the past. I used to fold on my laptop at school and occasionally on my desktop- and speaking of which, here are my specs. Anyway, it was a long time ago that I really did anything.

Anyways, first off, let me say welcome! Glad to have you here, sure could use the extra man power.

Anyways, you can run 1 or 2 clients on your computer, The GPU client on your 88 and The Windows SMP client on your CPU

It all depends on how much you want to contribute. If you don't mind having something run in the background, the WinSMP client is a great start. It's pretty good at running background and it's much better now a days at throttling acording to whatever else you do on the computer. I'm not up on ppd values for dials but Im sure someone will chime in. There is a simple guid on here (should still be first page) by Zero that will get you all set up in a few minutes

As for your GPU, this is where you'll get some bigger points, around 4-5k ppd if I recall. In our guides section there is a guide on setting this client up aswell, and it's super easy. Just download the app, install, click the shortcut and setup your personal Info (name/team etc). That's pretty much all there is to the GPU client

Again, I'm sorry I don't have links for you, but I'm sure someone here will help out, if not I may be able to get on a computer later tonight and update

Thanks guys! I had some issues, so I turned off UAC, got the shortcut working, but it wouldn't let me enter a password. First it errored with a blank password, and now...

I thought "hmm, maybe my internet was bugging out again" so I restarted it, no go. Originally I tried to paste my password in (I guess I should have known better?) and then when I went to manually enter my passkey, I couldn't type.

Edit: Removed -smp -advmethods, things seem to be working.
Edit2: Not sure how to get more than one client running. Tried making a copy of the folder with a second Machine ID but no go. :( Oh well. Also, GPU client is erroring out. When I start FahCore_11.exe

Edit3: Had to turn UAC back on for IRC because it was being stupid, don't ask why. >.> Anyway, got F@H and F@H GPU working now. Restart must have fixed the GPU.

I have to say I honestly have no idea what is wrong with your client, but I'd like to point out that like other command line programs it's common practice for the cursor not to move and the characters not to show up when you type in a password. So maybe that's what you did wrong? I dunno.

It's fine to leave the CPU clients as they are, unless you find they decrease your overall gameplay experience. For the GPU clients, its advised you turn them off (Ctrl+C) since many people have reported the GPU client returns errors and constantly keeps pausing for 24-hour periods if left on while gaming.
 
For the CPU, it sounds like you missed this step:

4. Navigate to the install directory and run install.bat. If you're using Windows 7 or Vista, you'll need to right-click on it and select the Run as administrator option. You should see a command prompt window, and it will ask for your Windows user account name. If the user name displayed is the correct one, press enter. Otherwise, input your user name. Enter your account password both times you are asked. You should then see the following message:

Press a key and the window will close.

4a) If the command prompt window does not stay open, press start+r to open the Run dialog. Type cmd and press enter. In the command prompt, type cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Folding@Home Windows SMP Client V1.01 (leave out the (x86) if you are using a 32-bit OS) and press enter. Then, type install.bat and press enter. That should launch the install script.

4b) If you see an error message instead of the "MPI is working" message, you are probably not running the installer with sufficient privileges. Try disabling UAC if you are using Windows 7 or Vista, and make sure you are launching it from an administrator account, not a limited one.

For the GPU, what version of drivers are you using? cudart.dll sounds like a driver file. If you have older drivers, they may not be Cuda-compliant.

Sounds like you a very close on both of these, though.
 
Try the new drivers with the GPU and get that running first.

Then we can get the cpu going. I think the above fixes will work.
