I am trying to install a MCW50 Block on my 6800Ultra and have a question.

The back plate comes with a little rubber knob on it that is supposed to shield the metal plate from the components on the back of the 6800. Is this sufficient to protect the back or should I uninstall the rubber knob and put some neoprene there like I have heard other people do? (Did people do thsi because the rubber knob was not there before?)

Put some neoprane beetween card and metal plate(took off that knob) make sure use long enough screws to reach the bracket. Be creful with the gpu core when you try to screw the bracket. Do not move the block b/c it can chipped the side of gpu core....

Home depot, actuaaly I used pipe insulator called Armaflex or armacell. Cut it in size and if it too thick you can trimmed it.

Got me some Armaflex...works like a champ Sir! THANK YOU.

BTW, you think I need to cool those exposed chips in the left of the picture? And how tight should I crank on the nuts in the back of that block? (I currently have it on tight but not super tight. Basically the block is not moving in any way and looks to be completely touching the GPU.)

Mine looks like this:

That's fine, just don't overtightened. Temp. should be in high 30's(depend on room ambient)

As far as the pics go, I will be happy to post some later tonight.

Before and after temps and OC will have to wait for at least a week since many of the parts for this project are still in transit. I am working on a complete write up, so I'll be sure to post it here once its all set.
