MCR220 upside down?

I have an aurora3d with the pre-done tubing holes on the bottom. The standard install for the swiftech mcr200 seems to be barbs up and facing toward the case. This makes the routing of my tubing tricky unless i drill new holes.

So I have two options:

1) Face the barbs backwards but still topside (does it really matter which way the rad faces?) thus running the tubing out and down and back in thru the aurora3d holes.

2) Turn the rad upside down. But this would defeat the whole plenum chamber/self-purging feature, no?

I found that PPC has my case pre-swifteched, and they mounted the rad both upside down and with the barbs facing out (click pic for product images):

just because i popped the top on my cpu doesn't mean i have a clue. in fact it quite likely means the very opposite.

I want to see a knife infomerical that tears into an x2 4800 to demonstrate the effectiveness of the blade.

So long as you fill and bleed your loop properly you wont have a problem of having air in the radiator. Just flip your case around a few times while your filling it to get all the air out.

As for which way the rad faces... if you dont put it the correct direction a hole will develop in the space-time contineum and we will all die slow, horrible deaths. Well, either that or it wont make any difference cause the air and water will flow through regardless .

Also, if you dont mind having the tubing loop a bit behind the case, it would probly provide slightly beter performance to just use straight barbs instead of 90's.

thanks for the feedback.. yeah I don't know why I even asked if it mattered which way the barbs face, ha ha.. brain fart.

I'm going to mount it barbs out and up, so it'll be self purging. Will have a little longer tube run (the length of the rad basically) to run them down and into the case, but worth it me I suppose.

Now my consideration is that the rad is directly over my two exhaust holes, thus the warmer air from inside my case is blowing through my rad. I'm tempted to mount the rad on the side of my desk instead where it can draw pure "fresh" room air. Might even consider mounting the pump, res, and rad all on the side of the desk and run the tubes in just for the gpu/cpu. Not as mobile that way but I don't move it much.. The case is a hulk after all =)
