mbp strange blotchy dead pixel problem

the problem is a very odd long line of very oddly placed dead pixels. theyre not in a neat row like most dead pixel issues. they resembled what youd expect if i had maybe jabbed my thumb in to the screen and held it there for several minutes, going up and down the bottom. but of course i didnt. i didnt drop it either. the first ones to show up was a small normal line, just maybe half an inch, straight line. the next morning when i turned my computer on it was more, and more oddly placed also.

after a few days it had covered about half the bottom 2/5ths inch of my screen sparatically (with a more normal straight line running about 3/4ths of the way across. the screen itself works fine, and its not a connecting issue, because i found putting light pressure on the area didnt distort the colors, so the pixels are very much dead.

what could cause this and is it a known issue? its mostly the weird pattern that confuses me. i assumed most dead pixels were either scattered individual or lines, not blotchy patterns.

i have two cellphone pictures just to show how long the line is and how tall it is (a little shorter than my trash bin icon).
