I just got my MBP. The first Mac I have ever owned.

It has a Mini Display Port on it and I want to hook an external monitor up to it. If I buy the DVI one, can I plug in a DVI/VGA adapter into it (I have both types of monitors).

My guess is no, the adapter looks like DVI-D to me.

***edit, reading peoples comments on the apple page, seems it is DVI-D and an adapter will not work. Looks like I gotta buy both.

Grab the DVI version posted above. Keep in mind though, the max external resolution is 1920x1200.

thanks. and a nice, clear explanation from monoprice:

"NOTE: This adapter does NOT support analog signal. It will only output a digital signal. It can be used with DVI to DVI and DVI to HDMI cables and adapters, but NOT DVI to VGA."
