MB not detecting SATA drive?

Hey guys, I just installed my Seagate 250gb SATA drive ( first sata drive :p ) but when I boot into windows, I see don't see the drive! I have the chipset drivers installed ( 5.10 )....is there anything else I need to do?
 
Does the bios detect it? If so then its time to partition and format the drive.

for XP:
Start -> right click on "My Computer" -> Manage

On the left side of the screen go to "Disk Management"
Right click on your Seagate drive on the right side of the screen and select Partition.

If it doesnt auto format it once your done with the partition wizard than select format.
 
Its actually under "DISC 1"

But thats on the bottom section, and if I right click it, the only options I get are..

Ummm....I have no idea....I have it hooked up to the ones next to my videocard...anyone with a DFI nf3 250 board know the diff?
 
According to your mb manual you should have 4 sata ports. 2 up near the cpu area above your video card ( this is where you are plugged into now?) and 2 down near the lower corner where your cmos battery is located.

What happens if you move the sata drive to the ports near the cmos battery labeled SATA 1 and SATA 2. These should be the ports that run from the nf3 chip.

Reason I'm taking this route is because I dont recognize those options you have.

Yeah, its in the one next to the CMOS battery..
 
Oh damn. sorry man right click to the right of where you are right clicking. On the long white space. Not on the part that says

Disk 1
Basic
xxx.xx GB
 
Once you do that you should be able to right click it again and see a format option.
 
Well, I want to make my new 250gb drive...so I guess I need to unhook my current 80gb drive and install windows on the new drive, then put all my files on the new drive ( from my old drive ) after...

so which should I choose? Extended or Primary..?
 
Primary. But if your going to install XP on it you might as well do this when you are doing the install.
