Hi Guys...
What, if any, problems might I encounter if I replace my MB/CPU/Memory/PS on my rig but keep my IDE C: and D: drives or C: and optical drive (as I think the new MB only supports 2 devices on IDE). Will I still be able to boot to WinXP sp2 which is the OS on the C: drive?
old > new:
Asus a7M266 > GIGABYTE GA-G31M-S2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard (for the video..currently have AGP card 2700 ATI)
Athlon 1.2GB > Intel Pentium E2140 Allendale 1.6GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E2140
Crucial 512MB > G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ
Unknown vintage 1999-2000 PS > SeaSonic S12 II SS-330GB ATX12V 330W Power Supply
If this upgrade is somewhat painless, I'll keep this rig until Nahalem surfaces and then give this to my Grandkids to use when they are over. Thanks in advance for any advice/help
