I am just embarking on my first W/cooled rig..... components are on thier way to me

Thinking ahead .... how easy it is to drain the system and add more components into the loop when the system is full with fluid ? is is necessary to drain the system every time you want to add components to the loop. if so, how do you do it ?

I will be using danger den components to cool the cpu and gpu using fill line rather than a reservoirs

dangerden has a pretty good video on how to do it.. you have to be careful. I reccomend taking everything out of the case before you do. You can use your pump to push water out, well as much as it can.

It's a difficult thing. Im condempating using multiple T-lines going to a drain plug.

Just lay everything out as simple as possible. Remember the pump cant push water if it doesnt have water behind it to pull, so it becomes useless very fast.

Depending on how many components you are cooling will determine how difficult and time consuming the draining will be. But to answer your question, yes, you will have to fully drain the system to install new parts to the loop. If you are using a fillport, then it's as easy as unhooking your line into a bucket and letting gravity do the work.

It usually takes anywhere from 30 min to an hour to fully drain the loop. Most of the water will be in the radiator so if you can unhook that without pouring water all over your loop then it becomes easier to drain.
 
yea i remember my first WC adventure, its not all that scary once you get used to it, just take it slow, the main thing you really want to do, is use as little tubing as possible obviously, but i figured i would mention just in case you werent sure
