maxtors wont work ?

so heres the problem i have two maxtors hooked up to the intel chipset on the abit ic7 motherboard i have two raptors running my operating system hooked up to the other two slots on the moterboard and they are woking perfectly now when i turn on the system the new hardware icon apears in the traystating its found the maxtors and that they are working perfectly but when i go to my computer to see if they are there i cant see them and get nothing and i cant figure out how to make the appear so they wil be usabale drives anyone have any ideas as to what i may be overlooking
any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance
 
id rather them not be part of a raid array but i dont think thats an option and i have the sil 3114 installed for the raptors didnt know if the 112s had to be installed ill try that.
