So I bought this 200 gig IDE drive october of last year. It worked fine for awhile, but then I started running into problems with it.

As of now, when I transfer files to the drive from any other drive on my computer, the computer comes to pretty much a halt, and the file transfers take painstakingly long to complete.

I ran maxtors diagnostics, it said it found errors, it fixed them, but the damn drive is still doing the same thing.

The file transfers take forever, a 700 mb file takes about 5 minutes, while on another drive it would take about 30 seconds max.

What should I do? / What can I do? Drive is still under warranty, but their diagnostic software now says there are no problems with the drive.

you can call them and see, sometimes there pretty cool about it, and dont really care how long ago you bought it. They will just rma. not really a big loss to them. If they ask you how long you have had it, say 11-12mounths.... If you bought it retail it 3 year anyway right? the futherest theyll go to find out when you bought it will probley be just asking you.

Hehe, yep, the beginning of the end. Wile you try to decide what to do warranty wise go ahead and backup whatever you need from the drive.

Finally got a chance to call on the drive, months later :D

They are RMAing it with no problems whatsoever. Just thought I would post back.
