Hey hey,

If i wanna get a a couple of nice big drives to put into RAID, which is the better out of these two? On the website, the MaXLine is under the "Midline Applications" section and the DiamondMax 10 is under the "Desktop" section, but that usually dont mean shite. Both have 16mb cache, both have NCQ, so whats the big difference??

The Maxline 3 are tested more extensively, and offer a extra two years on the warranty. Diamondmax = 3Year. Maxline3=5Year.

Basically the only difference is the warranty (5 years on the MaxLine III, and 3 years on the DiamondMax 10). The MaxLine 3 uses higher grade components in it to give it a longer life. But in terms of performance, they are identical.

However, MaxLine III's have no more testing performed on them than DiamondMax 10's do. For all intents and purposes, they are the same drive, really.

There are some differences.

1) NCQ of the Maxline is twice as fast as the Diamond Max10

2) Maxline has an MTBF of 1,000,000 hours

3) I bought 3 Diamond Max 10 and two were bad. I bought 1 Maxline III and no problem.
