Hi all.

Recently built my new system (see http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sh...php?t=17449873). I have the CPU clocked stable at 2640mhz (SD 3700, stock speed is 2200). Not bad, but I want more.

Currently selected "+ 0.075" in the bios for CPU voltage, and the CPU core voltage is being reported as ~ 1.575 though the monitoring programs I'm using in windows. I'd love to get my CPu clocked higher. It'll boot into windows fine at 2750, and even run 3dmark, but wont do more than a couple of minutes of prime.

Increasing the voltage further might help,. but I havce no idea how far is safe to push it. can I add an extra 0.025 (up to about 1.6?).

I'm only running the stock air HSF that came with the CPU, but my tempts are surprisingly low at 33 degrees C idle, and 43/44 degrees c under load so temperatures aren't an issue.

Alos, I'm having to use a divider on the memory as my system gets unstable with the memory much over DDR400 speed. My memory is Crucial TwinX 3200 - the stock voltage on this seems to be 2.75 - same question again, how far is it safe to push this up?

edit: typos and spelling brought to you in association with 5 pints of Guinness - don't worry, I shalln't be upping voltage whilst under the influence!

For an everyday thing you should stay below 1.65v

But nobody really KNOWS...

I used to run my Athlon XP 1800+ T-Bred B at 2v 24/7, it still works too.

I think 1.6v is fine but its all about your cooling. I run my Venice A64 3200 @ 2560mhz and 1.6v. It ran 12 hours in Prime 95 without issues. I'm using a ThermalRight XP90 and get around 51C. If I were you I'd up the voltage to 1.6v run Prime 95 and watch the temps. I wouldn't go over 55 C even though I think these chips can go a lot hotter before frying, but leave yourself some head room.

From what I hear
+.2v is okay for most air cooling
anything more you may want to look into water or something more extreme.
