Max Temps/Voltage?

So I was bored and decided to play with my system a bit again, but have a few questions, that I'm unsure of..... What is the max temps for a 2500k, as well as voltage. I dont mean for small stints, but for extended periods of time. I've heard varying answers such as 75*c core temps, and 80-90*c temps as well as 1.35v to 1.45v.

I'm pushing my 2500k pretty hard right now for fun.. Right now I'm at 5ghz @ 1.405v under load and 84-85*c in prime. Scared to try intel burn tes, lol... Until now my 24/7 has been 4.5ghz at like 1.23v and 71-73*c in intel burn test and ill likely return to that later on, but just playing for now.

That's a nice voltage for that clock! Mine needs 1.5v to do 5Ghz... 1.425 for 4.9 though. :rolleyes:
 
I got a rounding error in prime after 30minutes, but not sure what the limits are on voltage and temps so not sure if I want to pursue getting 5ghz stable. I feel ill probably need another .015 or .025v and probably be touching 90*c on the core temps.
 
80-90C in stress testing is fine.. even at full load with any other application you shouldn't break 75C. either way the processor will protect its self long before you could damage it from heat. you are probably right the voltage increase you will need. but you definitely want to double check with IBT.
 
Whats your cooling? With that chips low voltage, you could get really decent temps with a nice cooler ontop of it at 5ghz.
 
100C core temps are the max allowable. Raising voltage past stock lowers that number a bit, but no one can say by how much.

IMO if you want to run 1.35v and see 80C temps during normal use that's going to be fine. Hardly anyone kills their chips, and significant degradation due to electron migration won't show up for a couple of years under the worst of circumstances.
