Max Registry Cleaner

Gets five stars on the web site that I looked on.Who knows! I Ran reg cleaner on XP did not see any improvement yet no harm done.Best I can do for you,sorry.
 
I used Registery Cleaner on my XP machine. Seemed to work pretty decently from what I could tell. Of course I am sure there are better things to use out there.
 
I've only used ccleaner. It found a number of things to clean, but to be honest I didn't notice any difference in performance. (My pc wasn't really sluggish or anything to begin with, but it has been almost 2 years since my last install ( :eek: ) so I thought it might be able to use a cleaning.)

There are times when a registry cleaner may come in handy, but performance is not one of the reasons to use one. Even a few hundred KB's of unused keys will do nothing to harm system performance. Really the only thing a large registry would slow down is searches through regedit.

If you're the type that just have to have everything perfectly clean, then use a registry cleaner, but don't expect it to help performance. Also, definitely make sure to make backups BEFORE doing anything. I've seen way too many installs get messed up from registry cleaners and the user didn't have a backup.

That's good advice, and the nice thing about CCleaner is it gives you the option of backing up everything before you make any changes... although I have ran CCleaner hundreds of times on dozens of machines and never once have I had a problem with it.. It's fast and reliable... I can't recommend it highly enough..
