Well just finished watching the movie, it sucked, but it reminded me how much i loved the game, so I bought the package on steam for $15. But when I run Max Payne, the cut scenes have no sound, and thats the best F'ing part! lol!

I tried playing around but with no luck, does anyone know what I can do to fix this???

what OS, computer specs? could be max payne isn't compatible with vista...run it in compatibility mode if your using vista,

There is information on this around the internet. Something about how some of the sounds in the original Max Payne were the one format that vista was not compatible with playing. I found this out myself after going through and loading the game up and finding it didnt work lol.

I have the fix here if someone has a place for me to upload it to. It's under 2MB what it does is re-encode the audio files to make them vista compatible. It does work with the Steam ersion according to the Read Me file.

BTW here is the contents of the Read Me

Max Payne 1, Windows Vista Sound Fix by Darkje

INSTALL: Unzip files to your maxpayne game directory (folder) and run MaxBatch.bat
STEAM USERS: unzip to your steam\steamapps\common\maxpayne folder, run MaxBatch.bat

UNINSTALL: Run MaxBatch.bat again to restore files to original.

NOTE: You will notice sox complaining alot about eof, but the resulting files are fine.

I've personally tested this with the cd version of the game and it works great. According
to steam forum users this patch will also work for those running vista and max payne via
steam. Thanks again Darkje!

(Vista 64-bit)

Weird thing is, I bought the Max Payne pack a couple months ago and back then the cutscenes' voiceovers worked.

I just played it again the other day for a little bit and this time there wasn't any voiceovers.

So yeah.

I used the fix nintari linked to when I got Max Payne during the EPIC Rockstar sale a few weeks ago.

Everything works fine. The original Max Payne seemed to be slow storywise to me but Max Payne 2 came off a little cheesy while being slightly more fun to play.

All this talk of Max Payne, I should install it on my lappy and give it a go sometime! :p Haven't played the game in years.

it's always amazing to remember how cool you thought a game looked back in the day, then load it up and see how diffrent it was from what you remembered lol

Max Payne was so blocky compared to what I remembered lol

I installed the patch but when I try to start I get this:
