Max Payne 3 displaying wrong fps

I've been playing Max Payne 3 since yesterday , which by the way is an awesome game and noticed something. My FPS is hovering around 80-100 with v-sync on. I'm playing on a U3011 so it should be locked at 60 fps right? Settings are either on High or Very High except for MSAA. I actually made a video on youtube so you can see what I'm talking about.

the latest version of fraps shows the correct fps - afterburner/precision x dont yet

There is an in-game VSYNC option, as well as your driver VSYNC option. Make sure the driver is set to obey the application setting, and then make sure VSYNC is turned on in the graphics setting of the game. If you are using the latest FRAPS, it should display it correctly.

Catalyst's v-sync is actually on OFF and the one in-game is ON as seen in the video. I'm going to try FRAPS next and see if it display the fps correctly.

If catalys v-sync is off, it means it forces it.. So you turning it on in the game does not mean anything.

I can't get any information on frames per second from either Afterburner 2.2.1 or FRAPS (latest download) when running this game?

I had it running on my son's AMD computer (HD 7970 CF, Cat 12.6 beta and CAP 12.6 beta1).

Going to try my own GTX 670s today, but I don't really think it's the computer, rather the game.

Any suggestions?:(

Its not the game because my fps is dsiplayed using the latest Afterburner, however it doesn't read correctly as stated by the OP. I've ran it on both of my machines, one with an 7850 and one with a GTX 670 both using Afterburner and they both show the fps, just not correctly.

The FPS graph on my Afterburner (2.2.1) is blank in MP3. The only thing I haven't done is raise the limit for FPS, but I can't imagine I'm getting over 200 FPS!!

It's not the limit, it's gotta be something that's different in MP3 that AB can't read, cause I'm having the same issue with the retail version of MP3; not able to show the OSD.

Me too. Retail version of MP3.

Two different systems, one AMD the other nvidia, same AB and FRAPs..........I am not able to display FPS on either.

Computers are X58 and X79 based..........I just don't get it.

I want to do some comparisons.........no can do.

According to Unwinder, the MP3 retail DRM breaks the FPS in the game and only the publisher can fix it.

The Steam version is going to be tweaked, according to Unwinder but no go in the retail version.:(

I wonder if you register the game with Steam, that would fix the problem???

How would you register the game with Steam?
The retail serial key doesn't work on Steam, so sadly, I think we're SOL.

I thought there was some way you can register a retail game purchase on Steam?

maybe I'm way off.:(

It figures, the one time in the last year I've purchased a retail copy. i thought the game was so large GB-wise it would take forever to download, now I can't use it to benchmark anything......arrrgh.

A guy on Guru3D did something using his retail copy and a cracked .exe off the piratebay and got the game to show FPS......but it seems like an odd way to go about it and maybe not too kosher.......to me too complicated.

I don't use the OSD from Afterburner, I have it displayed on the LCD on my G19.

It's showing FPS for the game (Steam Version) but I do not know if it is correct.
