max difference in temps between AC MX2 and MX4?

I think even between the best and the old white stuff you are only looking at 5c, so maybe in the 1-2 between the 2. But that is just my 2c. Also there are ways to apply paste on the different processors to maximize that a bit.
 
Not enough to worry about. I think it's down to mounting technique rather than material quality at this point.

I have been using it for a long time now and it has never let me down. I did pick up some MX-4 that one time there was the crazy sale for less than $3 a tube, if I recall correctly, and that worked great as well. My re-pasted 480s had comparable temps with each.
