Hello guys,

First off sorry if i have posted this in the wrong section. I have been using triplehead2go for almost 2 months now without any problems. Recently i formatted my computer and the problem i have is that every time i select the resolution for my 3 monitors that i always use, i get a message saying that "a windows error has occured".

It lets me install a number of resolutions, but wont let me install 1440x900. It never used to give me this error message during the time ive been using it. And ive formatted a few time during the 2 months. Also when i boot up the pc, everything looks massive streched across all 3 monitors.

Anyone have any ideas to why it keeps giving me this error message?

Also the Matrox tool says my displays support a res of 5040x1050 but everytime i select that my monitors go black and give me a message saying "out of range"

Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks :)

5040x1050 ? What is that 3 LCD's of 1680x1050 res ? That has to look pretty cool in games like WoW and stuff ?

But what is better 3-20" monitors like that for extra widescreen, or one 30" of 2560x1600 for gaming ?

the triplehead2go supports a max res of 3840x1200, for widescreen monitors it will only use 2 monitors due to this limit. for a triple monitor setup you have to use non widescreens

I think this is a Direct3D 9 limitation, where the maximum resolution is 4092x4092. Even Vista cannot escape, as Aero uses DX9.

Supposedly they fixed this in DX10, but that's a long way from filtering down the pipeline and completely replacing DX9.

Incorrect, the TrpleHead2Go now supports 5040x1050 (triple 1680x1050). There are no issues using three widescreens.

Also incorrect. The 4096x4096 limitation was imposed by older first generation DirectX9 hardware, this is not a limitation of DirectX9 itself. Newer video cards allow you to drive resolutions far in excess of 4096x4096 in DirectX9 mode.

wow, thats quite an update since i last looked into the triplehead2go very nice to know.

You know I wish people would not spout inaccuracies and non-truths on these forums like this. People come here looking for help and posts like yours just confuse them. It really is very simple: If you don't know wtf you're talking about then don't post, or at least go out and check their site and do a little research first before you make a fool out of yourself and confuse the OP.

As has already been said, the new digital version supports 3x1680x1050 WS monitors now with the firmware update. The original analog version support was for 3840x1024 anyway, not 3840x1200...

Sorry for the rant all, but it really only takes 2 minutes to do a little research before you post inaccuracies and confuse folks.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the replys. I think the new Nvidia 185 drivers have broken some res options. Thats why i get the windows error. Ive gone back to the 182 drivers for now. Regarding the option to select 5040x1050. I have it under the display options, but if i select it, all my monitors go blank and say "out of range" I presume this has somthing to do with the refresh rate? I dont think my monitors can handle a 55 refresh rate.

Im using 3 Asus VH222H 22" monitors. Any way i can use 5040x1050 res with these?

Thanks

There is one slight problem running 5040x1050 with the TH2G Digital Edition; your monitors need to support a 57Hz refresh rate. They had to drop the refresh rate slightly because there simply isn't enough bandwidth to do 5040x1050 @ 60Hz over DVI.

Here's a large list of monitors tested to work at 57Hz, courtesy of Widescreen Gaming Forum:

If Matrox ever wants to allow higher resolutions, they'll have to release a DisplayPort version of this box. DVI simply can't cut it anymore.
