Anyone else excited about the Matebook with Ryzen, hoping it does have "12 hour battery life". Loving my HP ENVY Ryzen laptop, but the battery life is 4 hours max.

Just ordered one after extensively going through these two threads:

    https://slickdeals.net/f/11733059-h...ssd-usb-c-charging-win10-home-walmart-599?v=1

Seems super promising and great value per dollar - 14" IPS 1080p touch-screen, 8GB dual channel memory, 2500G /w Vega 8, 256GB M.2 SSD, all aluminum body and LED backlit keyboard. Picking it up later today, might add some personal anecdotes after a few days of using it :)

I ended up picking up one for my wife last Sunday. Lasts 8 hours or so doing Google Hangouts/Email/Chrome/Word. She's happy as a replacement for her 1st gen Razer Blade Stealth.

I only wish it had 16gb of ram, not sure I could get by on 8gb for VS 2017 + a vm or 2

Been using it for a week now, really enjoying it as an upgrade from my old HP Elitebook 1040 G1 (i7 4650u, 1080p screen) in almost every way.

    Pros:
    - Great processing power with a 4c/8t processor (my old i7 was a dual-core /w HT)
    - One of the few Ryzen laptops on the market with dual channel RAM, albeit I wish it was upgradable rather than soldered on.
    - Build quality is very good for the price, being a unibody metal frame also improves its heat dissipation
    - IPS 1080p touchscreen panel, looks fantastic with thin bezels
    - Speakers are very good for a laptop
    - Vega 8 graphics is fine for moderate gaming, I only really play League, CSGO, Overwatch, or Starcraft 1/2 on the go so it's perfect.
    - Around 8 hours battery life @ 60% brightness
    - Very quick out of the box with the M.2 SSD and basically no Windows bloat (only Huawei's "PC Manager" app is installed but you can remove it)

    Cons:
    - Glossy screen, but doesn't bother me too much
    - No fingerprint reader (nitpick, but some people want it)
    - Fans can be audible during load, but doesn't bother me too much
    - Keyboard backlights seem to shut off after 10-15 seconds of inactivity, wish I could just keep them on (guessing this is a feature to save battery life though)

All in all, really good value for $600 albeit one can certainly get a more powerful laptop for gaming with a GTX 1050 / 1050 Ti for around the same price during a sale.

2 weeks later - my wife said "this is my favorite laptop I've ever owned". No quirks, only wish the wal marts around me in Austin weren't out of stock now so I could get one myself.
