Ok im putting my new system together and i have 2 optical drives and one hard drive. I have the hard drive hooked up with serial ata and i am hooking the 2 optical drives up using the parallel ide cables.

My questions is since im using serial ata for the hard drive. can i hook up each one of the optical drives as master on the two channels or is the hard drive still taking up one of the channels.

My motherboard is a asus p4c00-e dlx. If i dont make sence just let me know and ill try and renew it. Thanks for any help in advance. :)

You can hook the CD drives up on their own channels, or still just use one channel...whichever you want. The SATA drive is using it's own separate channel, separate from the two regular IDE channels.

shud be fine to hook up the opticals seperately across the 2 channels as masters.

The SATA interface has an entirely different controller.

thanks a lot guys. Thats what i thought but i figured i might as well ask before hooking it all up just to find out i could have done it better.

I really appreciate all the help
