Might be a stupid question, but can you run JUST a mastercard? Or is it no point to have a mastercard unless you are ABSOLUTELY doing crossfire?
 
yes you can, but why?...unless you find it for a cheaper price which is extremely unlikely.

"Fear" of that you're stuck with a master card that can only handle crossfire setups.
