i have been having some seriously confusing problems lately, but now when i restart my computer (the propper way from XP) i have to go into the recovery console and type fixmbr. once i do that windows boots fine untill i reboot again

WTF IS GOING ON!!!!!! :(

thanks :)

You had data loss on a write... typically this is a sign your drive is starting to fail. Just do a windows repair or simply reinstall to fix the problem.

HDD is starting to die, bad RAM, bad PSU...

what error are you getting on boot?

might run bootcfg /rebuild from the recover console.

right away it tries to boot off my onboard nic. (which i dont have it configured to do) and if i rebuild the mbr it works fine

it just worked fine a few hours ago....but i will keep that latest tip in mind :)

Well, if it is trying to boot from your onboard NIC then you probably have it set in the BIOS to do so.
