Massive PPD increase???

Well my computer has Blue Screened 2 times now. That together with the Pande response above is all I needed to do a rollback.

When I get home from work I will go back to normal drivers. The production was nice, but it is all for nothing if they are not putting out decent results.
 
Please do not install these drivers for the Possible PPD increase as Pande group has misgivings about them ATM

Will update when things are sorted out.

[Also coming with a rather high number jump - from 180.70/87/88 to 185.20, the driver features support for every GeForce desktop card from the 6 series up and adds a new tab in the Nvidia Control Panel that enables Ambient Occlusion, a lighting model that's supposed to bring more realism to 3D games.]
 
Well how long does it take to verify this? My 8GPU Monster is drooling at the option of more points. What is the word? Should I take a new Harddrive and install Vista Ultimate and these drivers? I'm not going to wait much longer...

Yeah but it really looks like the genie is out of the bottle. It's in Pande(a)'s hands now! ;)

I'm fairly confident the data is good, Trying to isolate the proper dll today but have been down for most of the day because Meds ran out. :( So I'm laying back on heating pad most of the day answering noob posts on folding. :(
 
I don't think the folding results are bogus, I just think the extremely high PPD some people see in FahMon is bogus. I'm still running these drivers on Vista 64 with a single GTX 285, and I haven't had any errors/blue screens, but I also haven't seen any drastic PPD increase in my actual output based on the charts at EOC.

I think these drivers are what they seem to be: beta drivers that have improved performance (maybe 10 to 15%) but are not stable enough to actually release.
 
I just un-installed them and installed the new .46 drivers. I went from 22-26k ppd depending on the wu, to 15-19k ppd. Both of which are higher than the old .05 drivers I was using.
 
I get BSODs & reboot on one boxen, and another boxen seems fine.

I will remove it from the rebooting boxen and leave it alone on the other one.

There was a bug in the core that interacted with some changed behavior in the 185.20 driver. The good news is that it doesn't appear that this particular error "contaminated" any runs; the effect here was that some results were simply not calculated (and therefore not returned), not that returned results were corrupt. Core execution was faster precisely because not all the calculations were done.

I've released an updated version (1.25) of the core that appears to fix the bug; your clients should automatically update when they get a new 59xx WU assigned, or you can manually force an update by stopping the client, deleting FahCore_14.exe, and restarting. Please reply to this thread if you still see the PPD "doubling" with the 1.25 core, as the core results are definitely missing some returned data under those conditions.

Hmm, PPD on 59XX WUs seems to have gone to crap.

My GTX 280 and 8800GT are both working on a 5903 right now and are getting 6650 and 4240 PPD, respectively.
 
I also noticed that my output was very low, so I rolled back to the latest official Nvidia drivers.
 
I unistalled the drivers (185.26) on both machines, deleted Nvidia folder, rebooted. wnet back to 182.02 drivers. Stupid driver doesnt display correctly on my 32" only gives me refresh rate of 30. Running GTS 250.

anyway back on topic. I think my ppd are still reporting the same. maybe dropped a touch on my 250, but machine with 9800gt is still reporting same ppd. hopefully everything is ok. maybe it just needs to finish the current wu's. I also even went and deleted fahcore14, let it reload and didnt change.

anyone have any ideas?

This is OT but I'm curious what you think of your 250?

It's possible you need to wait for the WUs to finish. The only other thing I could recommend is using a driver cleaner utility to wipe out every last vestige of your previous drivers. Sometimes this helps, sometimes it doesn't. It's worth a shot if you believe there may have been an improper install.
