Massive patch for UT3

cant the mod community make maps? i thought ut3 was very mod friendly?
There are many third-party maps. However, official maps are always the ones that are run by most servers, and UT3 is severely lacking in terms of official maps, in both quality and quantity. That's what really killed the game for me. The gameplay was good, but none of the maps were fun, and I could just go back to UT99 and enjoy it a lot more.
Me and my brother really had a lot of fun with the older UT games, so of course we picked up UT3. We don't know what the problem is, but it just didn't have that fun factor. It felt like the maps were too busy or something, not sure. Will have to try it out again with the latest patch.
The official maps are shit. That's why.

Im pretty excited for this, I like UT3. Its fun every once in a while. When should we see this patch?

Everything I read on that list (minus most of the bug fixes) are issues I saw UnrealNA.com, Prounreal.com, and Beyondunreal.com members bring up during the BETA DEMO. (rofl, "beta" my ass)

You are a year and a half too late Epic... games dead. This is like digging up a guy who died a year ago and giving him the shock paddles. No matter how hard you try, you just can't revive him.

Oh well, at least it is free (err... I hope)

Both Epic and gamers would be better off with a brand new UT with game modes from 2004 returning and updated graphics, now that Epic (should) now know what the community as a whole wants from UT games and what they did wrong with UT3.

I'm really excited for this patch. This with the addition of more maps and a game mode and allowing those of us who bought a retail copy to register it to steam make for a great set of moves to help the game out. This is a step closer to the editor's choice edition (ala 2k4) that i've been hoping for.

Its all good, but jump starting a dead community requires more work than starting a fresh one from scratch. Had these fixes been in there at launch then the community may have flourished, trying to jump start a dead community with a patch even as good as this one, I doubt will happen, the game is dead and Epic are going the way of old Yella, it's best we just take this developer out to the pasture and put 2 in 'em and leave it at that.

IMO, I don't think it would be in there best interest for a new Unreal game. Everyone knows or at least heard of how bad UT3 was. Also, classic shooters such as Quake, Unreal, and Doom just arn't what people want these days. Everyone wants the Call of Duty and team based type experience for online gaming.

They could try reviving Onslaught, but I don't see people catching on.

I've done some COD4 in CAL, and some BF2 in CAL, and I can easily say that no game requires more teamwork than CTF in the UT series.

EASILY. People just get frustrated as to why the enforcer isn't 1 shot kill when you pop a guy in the head with it...... and the skill level differences are MASSIVE in the UT series further discouraging noobs

This update reminds me of the big Quake 4 updates that came wayyyyy after everybody stopped caring about the game.

Exactly what I was thinking. Q4 eventually turned into the game it should have been on release (well, mostly).

The was average when it came out. I tried it with the new patch again and the game was pretty good. Someone mentioned it being 10 bucks- I'd say it's worth it for that price.

I really enjoyed UT3. Was sad to see no one ever played. Being able to add bots is a huge boon to a game everyone pasted over. Most games you get online and its dead. At least UT you can still play.
