Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
i'm looking at setting up a server with 2TB of storage what would be your choice of mobo/cpu, i'm looking at amd don't want to spend more then 300 bucks for cpu and mobo don't want to get raid card if possible to keep cost down
Your best bet for this, if you dont want an expensive raid card, is to use PCI controller cards for additional drives and set up a software raid in linux. A faster P3 or older P4 would be sufficient. Or you can get an S754 sempron and board for ~$100. Set the box up as headless, throw it in a closet, access storage via network, and control the box via ssh.
yea i just want something that doesn't put out a lot heat because it gets damn hot here in the summer so was looking at amd was planning on using xp pro instead of linux because i've never used linux
With XP Pro, you cant set up a raid5 in software, only way you can achieve raid5 is through a controller card. I also think there may be a registry hack or something that allows for a raid5 in XP.
