Dear All
I was looking in a booklet by Micro Anvika (a UK Electroincs retailer for those not in the UK) to see that they have a Sony 23" tft listed as 8ms response time.

This display looked identical to their previous 23" display, which had a 16ms response time so I thought that Sony had just updated its panel. Accordingly I checked it out on Sony's website to be stunned by its blatant disregard for its consumers and false advertising.

If you go to this link it shows you the main features of the display and as you can see clearly lists it as 8ms.

However, if you then click on technical specifications and scroll down you will see that the fall time and rise time are listed as 8ms EACH and that the total response time is still 16ms!

This is an outrage as far as I am concerned and is totally different to where manufacturers quote separate response times for grey to grey and black to black etc.

Thought any potential purchasers should be warned.

Last I checked there is no industry standard for pixel response, there are alot of varying methods by manufacturers in how they've measured this over the years.

Scam? kidna harsh. Shady? yea, probably but they didn't hide anything from you. They told you how they arrived at their 8ms claim.

Bleh sony, I used to buy all sony stuff but they are just overpriced.. And I don't like their LCD's with the glass/SUPER-reflective screen surface.. what genious thought that one up

All otehr companies I have seen list either both the rising and fall or the overall response rate of either grey to grey or black to black. I have never seen a company just list one bit which is totally misleading and false advertising in my opinion.

Furthermore - look at how the overview of the panel reads on Sony's website - it is clearly mean tto portray that the overall response rate is 8ms, which it isn't and if you weren't clued up then you would believe that.

In addition, Sony used to advertise that panel as having a 16ms response rate (which is the truth) so why the sudden shift in marketing.
