March Madness for DC!

The quad will come online this evening, I had couple of things to do on it before anything else - transferring chunks of data from it into my back up HD and stuff. It should be running solely BONIC tonight. We should be hitting approx 40-50k per day now :D

Mr. Creepy Guy,

I used to go to RIT and I graduated with a crassy Associates degree. You can read a bit more here and some "drama" http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1500673

Yes, I'm deaf and I'm working in the Rochester area and am planning on going back to school to wrap up a BS degree eventually. Maybe one of these days we could meet up and have a "DC'er meetup :D

Ah I see, I am only a freshman working on my Networking degree. I have my i7 running in my dorms right now. :)

That is an impressive feat!

As a team we are already doing 35K PPD. In another days time we will jump three more spots up to 45. :) Nice work everyone! Any other commandos around? Stop in and say hi even if you cant/choose not to run RCN at the moment.

I've been watching the [H] RCN numbers, very nice. I can't really pull anything into the project right now. I'll try to hold down the fort over on Collatz for a while. Give me a few more days to help All4AMD complete the Race to 1 Million and then I'll put my laptop GPU back on folding and switch my 720 x3 over to RCN. I don't really want to give up my sub-100 rank in the folding team just yet.

The C2Q 6600 is in full swing now.

Am considering putting the GTX 260 in it to some good use on some other Bonic Project, any suggestions?

flogge - I hear you there man. Top 100 folders isnt an easy feat! Dont let us derail your efforts elsewhere. :) Should you decide to throw on that X3 I would be interested to see how it does. I was contemplating buying a cheap x3 or x4 and a microATX MB for a cheap dedicated cruncher (since I have all the rest of the parts). Either way thanks for considering it, thanks for all you do around here, and nice work in Collatz! I am going to need more GPU power to stay ahead of you. :D

Jon - The GPUGRID might be one of the most well know CUDA BOINC projects. Good cause too (much like f@h). I think that Primegrid also has a CUDA client although Im not that familiar with that project.

EDIT: The bottom of this page has some interesting graphs! :D

Don't forget that SETI, SETI Beta, Einstein, Milkyway, Collatz, and The Lattice Project also have CUDA aps.

Ah thanks for adding those projects. I was unaware of most of those. Although probably also noteworthy is that The Lattice Project seems to be very unreliable with work. Seems like they release WUs in small batches.

Welcome Flogge!

10 days in and we have gained 9 spots in the project, and about 225K points. At this rate (and with more people jumping on board) we shouldnt have any problems reaching 1M by the end of the month.

Looking back, I forgot one more. Aqua@home also uses GPU's, but if it matters to anyone they are a for profit organization.

Correct me if Im wrong but I dont think Aqua uses there CUDA client anymore.

14 days into the RCN push and we have moved up 14 spots. :) We might not be able to keep that pace up but we are making some great progress. Should hit 1 million points in the project in a couple days.

I had to take the i7 off of RCN long enough to finish one Aqua WU that was almost to the deadline but I'm back on RCN now. Top 30 here we come.

Metallicafan, My 720 x3 has been running for the last several days at 3.35 Ghz. It seems to be settling in at about 2500 ppd. The WUs tend to finish in about 17-19 hours, and it runs 3 at a time of course. I have been thinking about grabbing an x6 thuban whenever they get released in May. I got a waterblock for cheap the other day. If so I might have my 720 up for sale if you can wait that long.

Is that a black edition chip? AM3? Might be a good chip for a media server. :)

Looks like we are still doing pretty well in RCN. Up to 36th place. That means we have moved up 17 places in 18 days. How long are we going to rock RCN? Until we hit 35th? 30th? Eric? Im game for sticking with it as long as anyone else wants too. Well done guys.

metallicafan, I think we should keep our [H]ard push up until the 31st. March Madness would just be silly in April. :)

However, a monthly push in a certain project as an idea could be interesting.

Awesome April, May Moshing, Juggernaut June?

Sorry I am terrible with names. haha :)

Lol, but good job guys, I'm strictly a folder but just wanted to say good job y'all!

Goes to show we can still be competitive without tearing up the team

Yes, my 720 is the AM3 Black Edition chip. I don't know what stepping and so forth it is but it was purchased last April. It has folded at 3.35 Ghz for nearly a year now.

So I noticed as I was looking through the stats that we're missing one of our key Commandos for March Madness - anyone know what happened to Razor? I feel bad for not noticing and asking earlier, but I've just been so busy with life...

IIRC he is taking a break for DC for a little while. He said he will be back though.

::Edit::
Also like to add that currently [H]ard|OCP holds the highest RAC computer for RCN with Jon855! Congrats!

After a months worth of [H[ard crunching here are the Final Results: The [H]ard|OCP RCN team is currently ranked 32nd in the world with 1,326,258 points. We gained 21 places in about 30 days and more than doubled the total amount of points that we had in the project in just one month. Nice work everyone.

I want to give a special thanks to tr0ach, Eric, Jathanis, Jon855, Flogge, rmdashrrootsplat, jim03, and Tobit for participating.

I am going to keep processing a few units because we can gain one more spot pretty easily yet, but then I will probably spread the farm to various other projects. Anyone up for another group effort in May? :)

Absolutely - if anyone notices any projects that are ripe for a big push, throw them out there...

Thank you all who made March Madness possible!

May Mayhem?

Leidan Classic maybe? No one is working on it and we only have 9321 points in the project.

Looks like 500K points in Leiden would jump us from #71 to #33 or so (nice coincidence), and net us about 368 or so Vault points... Sounds like a good choice - any other ideas?

Another one might be QMC - 500K would move us from 188 to about 125-130, and would gain us over 300 vault points as well. Nice thing in QMC is there's a lot more teams to pass, so more room to move up even after 500K more. Not so nice thing is that there seems to be a lot more active teams above us...

Wow QMC looks like a perfect project for May. There are a ton of inactive teams in front of us there. I would think in a month (assuming similar support for the effort) we might be able to get up around the Top 100. Looks like the project has lots of available work etc.
