There are some pretty stupid criminals out there but this guy takes the cake. Lack of drivers landed this idiot in jail, now that is too funny.

So what do you do when you have a stolen driver's license printer, but can't use the PC that goes with it? Enter Digimarc's tech support line. According to a sworn statement by Secret Service Special Agent John Bush, someone who identified himself as "Scott" called Digimarc two days later and asked if he could buy printer drivers for the model of printer that had been swiped from the St. Charles office.

9 times out of 10 criminals are some of the stupidest people alive....which is a good thing for us.

Waffles.

I guess it's good that the drivers weren't on a public site.

When I was in high school, I worked at a car stereo shop. Two days after we finished a major install ($3000 worth of equipment), it was stolen out of the customers car. Two day after that, a kid I went to school with called me up asking if he could buy just the detachable face plate for the exact model of stereo that was stolen. The customer had wisely detached the face plate and taken it with her. The same day the guy I went to school with called me, he was arrested. Darwin award anyone?

I remember a cop saying once that we think they deal with criminals like the ones in Oceans 11 or the Italian Job; in reality, they are dealing with people like Harry and Marve from Home Alone. :p

haha he got owned :). Isn't the darwin award for if you die doing something stupid??

... so many stupid people out there. :)

Its like the people who call the cops when a drug deal goes bad. Good times.

A few years ago there was a story in the paper about a man calling 911 to report that his greenhouse where he grows his marijuana was on fire and he wanted them to come put out the fire before he lost his entire crop.

I'm hoping You're kidding, He didn't say He called the Cops, Although If He did then that is very good(As that's a responsible persons action and the opposite isn't cool at all), The ideas of being derided as a snitch or don't snitch is totally wrong and should be discouraged. As It's a juvenile idea that would not have been tolerated in My parents or grand parents day. :)

I can't believe he got that much time, expessially considering the listening was 99% illegal!

Wow, what the hell is going on? I just saw this on a local news website.

However, seems Ohio criminals are a bit smarter. :D

...or at least smart enough to have read about the dumbass who called tech support.

They still need the drivers :D

I don't see what good is a printer with memory of a few drivers licenses when they don't have material or software to print with :D

For the sake of argument, I'm just going to assume he's smart enough to develop the missing drivers. :D
