According to a new Google analysis of 4.5 million web sites and billions of URLs over the span of a year, almost a half million sites on the net are currently launching drive-by downloads of malware code.

According to Google research, hundreds of thousands of Web sites are infected with malicious software that could give attackers the ability to steal the personal identities of visitors. The research, titled "The Ghost in the Browser: Analysis of Web-Based Malware," reported that an adversary who can successfully compromise a victim's browser can gain access to banking and medical records, authorization passwords, and personal communication records.

Something to think about for those of you who don't think you need anti-virus and anti-spyware protection. Re-formatting is action taken too late if your personal information has already been stolen. Not to mention those who are unknowingly contributing to the botnet.

again, the best protection is to not be a stupid shit. and keep stupid shits from using your computer.
