Making web buttons in gimp

Hi folks, is there a tutorial for making web buttons in gimp?

I'm thinking I'd like to have something along the lines of a metalic look to them, but I have no clue how to do that. I can get the button shape filled with the color of choice, but is there something simple I can do to get that rounded shiny metal look?

Damn, I need to check out gimp... how is the load time compared to Photoshop CS? I get kind of tired having to wait a full minute for it to load just to resize a picture with decent compression.

Have you tried IRfanview? I don't know if that's exactly what you are looking for, but I can resize and save to different/same format with a different compression rate.

Doh!.. no not IRfanview, but I use something similar for resizing... I don't know why I used that example... it was more stuff like adding captions, or just doing quick and dirty stuff ...
