Making fiberglass stick.

I've been working on a full case mod lately making use of fiberglass on the front panel and door of said panel, both are plastic. So far it has worked wonderfully on the door, but the fiberglass won't stick to the panel itself and keeps pealing off. Aside from a rough-up sanding what else is there I can do to prep the surface. Why doesn't it like that plastic?
 
I am no fiberglass pro or anything, but my friend who does up his car parts. He always wraps whatever he is going to fiberglass in speaker cover cloth. I guess that is what it is called, the cloth that is very thin with tiny holes, covers the cone on speakers very tightly to hide it. just a suggestion
 
I can help. I have done Tons of fiberglass/Carbon fiber work. Part of the problem is the way Fiberglass and other epoxy bonded cloths adheared to things is by chemical bond and penitration of the epoxy into the substance underlying.(or atleast the most effective way) Unfortunatly for some materials like Plastic, the epoxy will not penatrate the plastic to form a bond. Therfore the only way to bond the two is by surface adhesion (or a mechanical bond). To do so you must sand the plastic with fairly coarse grit sandpaper. Ie 120 to 220 grits. Then it will leave a surface for the epoxys to bond to. It will also make a difference what brands of epoxy you are using to lay out the fiberglass and what methoud of layingout the glass cloth you are using. So a little more info would help. As well as if you have pics of what you are doing i could and would give you some more help. The best epoxys to use for such work is made by west systems. They have several formulas for speed of dry and strength. thing to rember is the longer the dry time the stronger and better the bond. Let me know if there is more I can do.

Wow, thanks for the info. I have pics taken, but not uploaded to my hosting yet. I'm sure this is the cheapo route, but I've been using a Bondo kit that has everything needed for fiberglassing a 3'x3' area for $10. Like I said, worked beautifully for the door, couldnt be happier ith it's outcome.
