Making Case Extremely Quiet

Is there any solution to make a case extremely quiet without spending over $30? Thanks in advance.
 
Oi.

Cases don't make noise. It's what you put in them. Put quieter fans in, switch to water cooling, shove it in the closet.

Sound dampening materials, larger fans that push more air at slower speeds. There's a lot you can do. Sometimes it costs a bit. Apparently you're more worried about noise than ensuring your computer is operating at a healthy temperature.


We have no idea what you're working with. You might wanna let us know what you have.
 
I have a Dell Dimension 8400 and the only thing I've done to it was overclock the video card and put the hard drive in performance mode instead of the quiet mode. The reason why I want to make it quieter is because the hard drive makes noise, but most importantly when I switch to full screen mode the video cards fan speed noticeably goes faster and makes much more noise
 
You could get better cooling for the video card. What card is it?
You could get an ATi Silencer or nVidia Silencer, and insure it runs quieter. As for the hard drive, you could install it with some rubber or foam between the drive and the metal parts it mounts to in order to reduce vibration.

Get an Arctic Cooling silencer for your video card. Can't do much about hard drive noise in that case, better cases have rubber grommets on the hard drive trays to reduce vibration noise.
 
a better resource for quite computing information would be silentpcreview.com . think about suspending the drive(s) and like the others said go for an arctic cooling silencer if you have a compatible video card. my second suggestion would be a cooler from zalman.
