Anyone have input on good ways to do this? I know Norton Ghost is one way to do it, but I would like something that is a little smoother. Info would be appreciated :)
 
The only complaint about Ghost is the cost. It doesn't get any smoother than booting from a floppy (or CD), choosing the writer as the destination, and letting it go. Assuming you have a DVD writer, you can usually fit it on one disc.
 
Yeah the cost was what turns me off from Ghost. Our company is looking for a restore solution for the few computers we sell, so basically we are looking for something cheap and effective :)

Ghost might not do it then, since you'd have to buy a license for each machine you sold.

To ghost each machine with a premade image you would have to pay to use the software to install the image?

I install W2k ghost images all day at work...

Does your company have a corporate license for the Enterprise Edition?
 
yeah we have a volume liscense....we give out a hologrammed CD with a COA with each machine we put w2k on

Ah, I meant a corporate license for Ghost.
 
Can you get a corporate license for Ghost, and then make restore CDs/DVDs for customers and sell them a license? If it works like that how much are the licenses?

I don't think you can do that. Ghost Enterprise is for in-house use. You should be examining the freeware cloning tools if this is what your after.
